Silver Palace Lorin Build: Sway Dodge

Lorin is a 4★ Fulmen Guardian with a Break Suppressor role, a five-hit fist string, and one mechanic no other character has: Sway. Here is the CBT2 loop, the exact hit routing for Sway, and where the chief inspector fits in a party.

CBT2 data Updated 2 November 2026 · Launch values may differ

Short answer: finish Reflex Fist to hit 5 for the 45.27% payout, and use Sway — the dodge you press before an attack ends — to jump back into the string instead of restarting it. Sway taken out of hits 1, 2 or 5 returns you to hit 3; Sway taken out of hits 3 or 4, the skill or the ultimate returns you to hit 5. A normal perfect dodge adds 5 Street Smarts, a Sway perfect dodge adds 20.

What is Lorin's core loop?

Lorin is a five-hit fist character whose damage and resource both concentrate on the last hit. Reflex Fist builds Street Smarts on every hit, but hit 4 is cheap in both senses: 10 Street Smarts and 9.99% damage. Hit 5 returns 20 and deals 45.27%, a larger number than either charged attack.

The mechanic that makes the string work is Sway. Press dodge before the current attack finishes and Lorin sways out of the attack while staying inside the combo. Press the basic attack button during Sway and you re-enter the string at a fixed hit rather than starting again at hit 1. That turns a defensive input into a combo bridge, which is why Lorin can keep attacking through a busy enemy phase. The general rules for each ring colour are in the combat guide.

How does Reflex Fist build Street Smarts?

Street Smarts is Lorin's named resource, and the CBT2 sheet gives a gain for every hit: 5 on hits 1 and 2, 20 on hit 3, 10 on hit 4 and 20 on hit 5. A pursuit attack adds 5 more. The sheet publishes no cap, so do not plan around a maximum stack. Because a skill spends the bar instead of waiting for a cooldown, the practical goal is to reach hits 3 and 5 as often as possible.

The table shows why Sway matters. Hit 4 is a trough in both curves: 10 Street Smarts and 9.99% damage. A Sway taken during hit 4 returns you to hit 5, so you can cut the trough and go straight to the 45.27% finisher without giving up the dodge.

How does Sway reconnect the combo?

Sway resolves to one of two fixed hits, and the rule depends on when you trigger it. Sway out of hits 1, 2 or 5 returns you to hit 3. Sway out of hits 3 or 4, out of the skill or out of the ultimate returns you to hit 5. In practice an early Sway fast-tracks you into the 20-point hit, and a late Sway fast-tracks you to the finisher.

Hit 1Hit 3
Hit 2Hit 3
Hit 3Hit 5
Hit 4Hit 5
Hit 5Hit 3

UltimateHit 5

This is a routing table, not a damage table. The value of a Sway is the hit it gives back, so decide before you press dodge where you want to land. Swaying after hit 2 to reach hit 3 is the standard opening; swaying after hit 4 to reach hit 5 is the standard close.

How much does a perfect dodge give?

A perfect dodge pays 5 Street Smarts. A perfect dodge performed through Sway pays 20, four times as much. That asymmetry is the single most useful thing to learn on the character: you can dodge from neutral for safety, but if you dodge out of an attack the same avoidance also hands you the largest Street Smarts gain listed in the kit.

The CBT2 sheet does not publish a separate perfect-dodge counter percentage for Lorin. Treat the perfect dodge as a resource event, not a damage event. The damage is whatever the string does next — a Sway into hit 3 or hit 5 is the follow-up.

How do the charged attacks and pursuit fit in?

There are two charged levels. Lv1 is a hook punch at 23.35%; Lv2 is a flurry at 38.88%. Neither beats hit 5 at 45.27%, and the sheet does not describe either charge as generating Street Smarts, so the charge is a positional tool rather than the payout. It is what you use when the target is out of fist range, or when you want one committed animation before a swap.

The pursuit attack is the small line item: 5 Street Smarts after a dodge. It is worth taking because it costs only a button press and keeps you inside the chain instead of resetting the rhythm.

What does Lorin do in a party?

The CBT2 role label is Break Suppressor on a 4★ Fulmen Guardian. A break slot is judged by how fast it fills Stun Buildup, not by its largest percentage, and Lorin's case rests on hit frequency plus a combo that survives defensive inputs. Two Sway bridges per string means fewer resets, and fewer resets means more hits per minute.

In the story Lorin is the chief inspector of the River Constabulary, and his direct superior is Rex, the Superintendent. The Constabulary arc's boss fight against Rex is built as a teaching encounter for parry timing and character swaps, so the chapters that introduce Lorin are also where the inputs he depends on get taught. For how a break slot fits a four-character party with one active member, see the team building page.

Version note: all percentages, resource caps and pity counts on this site are CBT2 values from the PC build. The global launch on 14 December 2026 may retune them. Each page is dated; this one was last checked on 2 November 2026. Launch values may differ.

Common questions

Does Sway replace the normal dodge?

No. You can still dodge from neutral. Only a dodge pressed at the end of an attack counts as Sway and reconnects the string.

Is there a Street Smarts cap?

The CBT2 sheet publishes no cap, so do not plan around one. The listed gains are per hit and per Sway.

Does Lorin get a bonus from parrying?

The CBT2 Lorin sheet lists no character-specific parry reward. Parrying itself is a system input available to every character.

Is Lorin the better break character?

Captain Kaboom carries the same Break Suppressor label, so compare kit shapes rather than rankings. Lorin bridges the combo; Kaboom spins through a tiered charge.
