What should you do before launch day?
Four things. Pre-register so the milestone rewards are attached to your account, finish the Overture pre-draw before 13 December at 23:59, choose your platform, and check your disk space. The pre-draw is a web event that has been running since 31 October and pays out after launch; it guarantees a four-star Motive within ten pulls. The milestones are separate and include currency and a new four-star character.
The platform choice is not cosmetic. PC and mobile share one account, but iOS and Android do not share with each other, so a phone player has to commit to one store. On PC, reserve at least 65GB on an SSD and another 25GB for unpacking. The PC requirements page has the full spec table.
How should you set up your account and region?
Create the account before launch day and link it to the platform you intend to play on, so the pre-registration rewards land in the right place. Check the store region on that account before you buy anything, because changing regions later is not a supported way to move progress. One account can hold one PC, one iOS device and one Android device; a second phone of the same family is not allowed.
Nothing from any test carries over. The first test, second test, return test and investigator programme were all wipe tests, and the second test explicitly ended with progress cleared. Treat launch as a genuine reset and do not try to recreate a test account.
Which platform and account rules matter before launch?
The full matrix lives on the cross-save page, and the storefront list is on the release date page. What matters on launch morning is the asymmetry between the four platforms, not the marketing list.
| Platform | Progress sharing | Day-one note |
|---|---|---|
| PC | Shares with mobile | The only public CBT2 platform, so it is the reference build |
| PS5 | Cross-save with PC unconfirmed | Plan for a separate save until an official statement appears |
| iOS | Shares with PC, not with Android | One iOS device per account |
| Android | Shares with PC, not with iOS | One Android device per account |
Reserve 90GB total if you can. That is the 65GB install plus about 25GB for the unpack step, and the unpack is where a tight drive fails on launch day rather than later.
What is the best order for day one?
Play the prologue first and finish it. It is the tutorial for movement, grapple, observation and the break-and-execute loop, and it ends with the Life and Death boss. Skipping it leaves you without the Detective Board and without the combat habits the rest of the game assumes.
Then unlock the Detective Board and pin your first clues, choose one break character and learn their stun contribution, spend both stamina pools, and start Affinity on the character you actually use. The order matters because the first three are permanent unlocks while the last two are daily resources that stop accumulating when capped.
| Phase | Action | Why first |
|---|---|---|
| Prologue | Finish the tutorial and the boss | Unlocks the case loop and the board |
| Board | Pin the first clues | Core to every later case |
| Break | Pick one break character | Shortens every elite fight |
| Stamina | Spend both pools | Capped stamina is wasted stamina |
| Affinity | Start gifts on a main | Compounds over the whole game |
What should you aim for in the first week?
Three targets. Reach the Act IV gate, which in CBT2 meant the end of the available main story. Clear Deep Cognito T7, the seventh tier of the combat challenge track. Hit 50% exploration in one district, which is the threshold the test build tracked for exploration depth. Together they cover story, combat and map progress without spreading you thin.
Do not try to do all three at once. The act gate is mostly story, T7 needs a built party, and 50% exploration needs traversal upgrades. Sequence them in whatever order your roster supports, but pick the district early so the percentage accumulates as you play.
Which mistakes should you avoid?
The four common ones are all avoidable with one rule each. Spreading materials across the whole roster leaves every character half-built; concentrate on four. Ignoring break damage turns elites into slogs; bring a character built for Stun Buildup. Treating the game as elemental sends you looking for counters that do not exist; build around Resonance and Tactical Assaults. Expecting test progress to carry over starts you on the wrong account with the wrong expectations.
| Mistake | What it costs | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Spreading materials | Four weak characters instead of one strong team | Commit to a party of four |
| Ignoring break | Long elite fights and missed executions | Slot one break specialist |
| Elemental thinking | Wrong team advice and wasted pulls | Learn Resonance and swapping |
| Expecting test saves | Confusion on day one | Start clean on a launch account |
What does this checklist not cover?
It contains no codes, no top-up advice and no spending recommendation. Those belong to the store and to the official channels, and any list of "working codes" published before launch is guessing. The checklist is about sequence and preparation, not about buying power.
For the systems behind the day-one order, read the beginner guide and the release date page. For the gacha numbers quoted in launch discussions, remember they are CBT2 values and launch values may differ.
Common questions
When exactly does the pre-draw end?
13 December at 23:59, the day before launch. Rewards are paid out after the game goes live.
Can I play on PC and phone with one account?
Yes. PC and mobile share progress, but iOS and Android do not share with each other, so pick one phone platform.
How much space do I need?
At least 65GB free on an SSD for the game, plus about 25GB for the unpack step.
Should I reroll on day one?
That is a spending decision this page does not make. If you do, decide before you link the account to a platform you intend to keep.
